Google Launches AI Plus Subscription in India at Rs 399; Intro Offer at Rs 199, Targets ChatGPT Go

Google has unveiled its new AI Plus subscription plan in India, priced at Rs 399 per month—with a launch offer of Rs 199. The plan brings advanced AI tools like Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro, expanded app integration, and increased storage, rivalling OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go.

In a bid to capture India’s rapidly growing AI market, Google officially rolled out its new Google AI Plus subscription on December 9th, priced at Rs 399 per month. For new users, there’s a tempting launch offer of Rs 199 per month—for the first six months—making this plan one of Google’s most accessible AI offerings in India to date.

This move is a direct challenge to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go, which launched exclusively for Indian users at the same Rs 399 price point and is currently available for free for the first year. The competitive pricing isn’t a coincidence; both tech giants are eager to win over India’s AI-curious crowd with affordable, full-featured plans.

What Google AI Plus Subscribers Get

At the core of Google AI Plus is access to Gemini 3 Pro, Google’s latest and most advanced AI model, renowned for its performance on research, content creation, reasoning, and coding tasks. Subscribers also get five times more access to Gemini 3 Pro compared to what free users receive, plus exclusive features from Nano Banana Pro—Google’s top-tier image-generation and editing AI.

But that’s just the beginning. The AI Plus plan unlocks enhanced tools in everyday Google applications like Gmail, Docs, and Drive, letting users automate email drafting, rewrite documents, summarize notes, and much more—straight from the apps they already rely on. Expanded Google Photos creation tools and 200GB of shared storage across Photos, Drive, and Gmail come standard, alongside a YouTube Premium individual plan and 25,000 monthly AI credits. For creative professionals and power users, there’s also limited access to the Veo 3.1 Fast video generation model, and deeper research tools via NotebookLM and the new Project Mariner.

Targeting India’s Diverse AI Needs

One notable feature: Google AI Plus supports sharing with up to five family members—a move tailored to large Indian households. Integration across Google’s ecosystem positions AI Plus as not only an assistant for individuals, but a smart addition for the whole family.

Google isn’t stopping at AI Plus: The tech giant’s AI Pro and AI Ultra plans remain available in India for Rs 1,950/mo and Rs 24,500/mo respectively, offering even more access to Gemini 3 Pro and other advanced tools. There’s also a special 1.5-year free AI Pro offer currently available for Jio users.
