Apple is giving creative professionals a lot to talk about with its July 2026 update to Apple Creator Studio, rolling out a slew of AI-powered features and workflow upgrades across its suite of apps. This marks the first major update since Creator Studio’s launch in January as a $12.99-per-month subscription, which bundles powerhouse tools like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro for Mac and iPad, along with Motion, Compressor, MainStage, and updated versions of Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform.

Final Cut Pro Takes Center Stage

The bulk of the updates land squarely in Final Cut Pro, Apple’s flagship video editor. The star new feature is Generate Captions, leveraging on-device AI to automatically transcribe video audio and insert captions directly into the editing timeline—a move that should dramatically speed up workflows for content creators and filmmakers. Alongside this, Edit Detection uses AI to spot cuts and transitions in imported footage, while new Creator Themes offer templates supporting multiple aspect ratios, dynamic titles, and customizable backgrounds.

Mac users are getting even more, with Final Cut Pro’s new Auto Mask feature. This tool can detect and isolate people, skies, clothing, and other elements in a scene, opening the door for much faster and more precise edits. Enhanced Match Color and Advanced Trimming options are also on deck, alongside the ability to send video frames directly to Pixelmator Pro for touch-ups.

Collaboration and Connectivity

Pixelmator Pro itself is now more tightly integrated with the rest of the suite. Users can open and customize images placed in Keynote, Pages, Numbers, or grab key frames from Final Cut Pro to edit directly. Vector shape generation is now easier than ever across Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers—a win for designers working across multiple formats.

Motion, Apple’s animation tool, now supports native vector graphics for crisp visuals at any resolution and introduces Distribute Layers for lightning-fast setup of complex animations. Compressor gets an Immersive Metadata Viewer and new media profile support, including for Apple Vision Pro.

Final Cut Camera, the free iPhone and iPad video capture app, is also getting some love. Now supporting Clean HDMI Out, users can send pristine video signals to external monitors and recorders. Expanded ProRes support—including ProRes LT—gives editors more flexibility in choosing codecs, and the ability to disable digital zoom rounds out the package.

Subscription and One-Time Purchase Options Remain

Despite concerns about a shift to subscriptions, Apple confirms that one-time purchase options remain for Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator Pro, even as the $12.99/month Creator Studio bundle gains traction. Most of the new features require macOS 15.6 or later, with some Compressor tools needing a Mac with Apple silicon.

Apple’s latest Creator Studio update shows the company isn’t slowing down when it comes to equipping creatives with smarter, speedier, and more connected tools—regardless of whether they’re working on a Mac, iPad, or iPhone.
