Apple has unveiled the winners of its prestigious 2026 Apple Design Awards, honoring 12 apps and games that stand out for innovation, artistry, and technical achievement. Among this year’s global lineup, Guitar Wiz by Bijoy Thangaraj from India made headlines as the sole Indian winner, clinching the Inclusivity award. The announcement came ahead of Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC26, highlighting the increasingly international flavor of the App Store’s developer community. Winners this year hailed from nine countries, including India, the UK, US, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Canada, Poland, and Australia.
Guitar Wiz: A Toolkit for All Guitarists
Developed as an all-in-one toolkit for guitarists of any skill level, Guitar Wiz sets itself apart with a laser focus on accessibility. The app provides spoken instructions for pitch, tuning, chords, technique, and finger placement—making it especially easy for users with diverse abilities to learn and master the instrument. Importantly, Guitar Wiz integrates key Apple accessibility features such as Dynamic Type, Increased Contrast, and Differentiate Without Color, ensuring the app is usable for those with a range of visual or cognitive needs.
The Inclusivity category at the Apple Design Awards celebrates apps and games that create accessible experiences for users from different backgrounds and abilities. Guitar Wiz stood out not only for its practical utility but also for its thoughtful, inclusive design.
