Mahindra Thar Roxx Gets Over Rs 1 Lakh Cheaper After GST Cut; Now Priced Between Rs 12.25–22.06 Lakh

Mahindra’s Thar Roxx SUV sees its prices drop by over Rs 1 lakh following a reduction in GST rates. The range now starts at Rs 12.25 lakh, making it a more affordable off-road alternative to compact SUVs in India.

If you’ve been eyeing the Mahindra Thar Roxx, there’s some good news. Thanks to the Central Government’s move to reduce GST on big SUVs, the iconic off-roader just got a lot more wallet-friendly. The revised Mahindra Thar Roxx price list now stands at Rs 12.25 lakh to Rs 22.06 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). That’s a reduction of over Rs 1 lakh for certain variants, with the base MX1 RWD MT petrol getting the smallest cut of Rs 74,000.

GST Rate Drop Drives SUV Price Cuts

The price slash comes in the wake of the government lowering GST rates on SUVs measuring over 4 metres in length and packing engines larger than 1,500 cc. Effective tax on such vehicles has been trimmed from a whopping 48 percent to a slightly less daunting 40 percent. Before this, the Thar Roxx attracted a 28 percent GST and a further 20 percent compensation cess—no wonder the fresh price tag feels like a breather for off-road fans.

This price revision isn’t just about a number—it means the Thar Roxx is now an even more tempting rival to popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and Citroen Aircross. Adventure enthusiasts looking for a rugged, characterful SUV with real street presence now have a more accessible option.

A Lifestyle Statement with Bold Upgrades

The Thar Roxx is not your average SUV—it’s a lifestyle beast. Built on the second-generation Thar platform, it amps things up with factory- and aftermarket upgrades: custom bumpers, lift kits, off-road tires, LED light bars, and plush interiors. Some owners take things even further with performance tuning for bespoke off-road escapades. Whether you’re craving a mountain escape, a camping trip, or just want to turn heads in the city, the Roxx is ready for it all.

These price cuts are likely to boost the Thar Roxx’s appeal among a broader range of buyers—urban SUV lovers, hardcore off-roaders, and everyone in between. In a market where every rupee counts and the thirst for adventure is real, Mahindra’s move positions the Thar Roxx as the bold, go-anywhere companion that now asks less of your wallet.
