India’s athletes continued their stellar run at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, pushing the nation’s medal tally to 15 after a dramatic Day 7 filled with landmark achievements across track, field, and the boxing ring.

Boxing Dominance and Athletics Milestones

The Indian boxing contingent delivered a near-flawless performance, with six pugilists advancing to the semifinals on Tuesday and five more joining them on Wednesday. That guarantees at least 10 boxing medals—shattering India’s previous record from Birmingham and underlining how deep the talent pool runs this year.

Meanwhile, Tejaswin Shankar soared to a personal best of 7.82m in the decathlon long jump, racking up 1,015 points for his efforts and shooting to the top of the event standings. Olympian Parul Chaudhary, despite a strong 9:26.75 in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final, narrowly missed the podium with fifth place but remains a key figure for India in upcoming events.

Para Athletics and Weightlifting Shine

India’s para athletes made headlines as Dilip Mahadu Gavit stormed to a new Games record and gold in his event. Para cyclist Lisha Das also competed in the women’s C4-C5 4000m individual pursuit, keeping India’s momentum alive in para sports.

Weightlifting proved to be a golden ticket once again, with Sanjana set to open Day 6 action in the women’s 77kg final. Indian lifters have now contributed seven out of the country’s 12 medals up to Day 6, making weightlifting one of the most reliable disciplines for Team India this year. Harjinder Kaur added another silver, while India has medaled in seven of the eight contested weightlifting categories in Glasgow.

Gulveer Singh’s historic silver in athletics capped off a day where India’s athletes were rarely out of the spotlight. Even in swimming, Aryan Nehra wrapped up India’s campaign with a respectable 15:36.25 in the men’s 1500m freestyle, finishing seventh.
