Indian equity markets put on an impressive show on November 3, 2026, as the Sensex surged over 900 points, crossing the 76,500 mark, while the Nifty 50 climbed more than 1% to move above 23,700. The rally marked the fourth straight winning session for both benchmark indices, fueled by a sharp decline in crude oil prices and renewed hopes for peace in the Middle East.

Oil Prices Dive on US-Iran Diplomacy

The catalyst for the upbeat market mood was a dramatic swing in oil prices, driven by developments in US-Iran relations. WTI crude saw a steep 7.4% drop, closing at $96.46 per barrel, after Iran signaled openness to peace talks via Qatari mediators. This marks a notable turnaround, as crude contracts had previously closed as high as 9,072 (up 8.70%) in the recent volatile period. The prospect of an end to the US-Iran conflict, after eight months of war in the Middle East, has significantly eased concerns about global supply disruptions.

Not surprisingly, the drop in oil prices provided a shot in the arm for Indian equities and the rupee, with the currency trading near 94.70 against the dollar. Lower fuel costs have long been a boon for India’s energy-dependent economy, and this time was no different: energy stocks lagged, but other sectors and midcaps saw strong buying interest.

Investor Sentiment Rebounds Despite Global Jitters

The improving geopolitical backdrop comes at a time when global markets remain on edge. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $643.3 million in net outflows on Friday—the largest single-day withdrawal since June—while expectations of a possible December Fed rate hike (currently priced at a 74% probability) have kept precious metals like silver volatile. Still, silver managed to rebound around 4%, climbing back above $50 to $50.8 per ounce.

In Asia, trading was mixed as investors awaited further cues from US midterm elections, tech sector earnings, and Fed policy. Yet, the trend was clear in India: optimism returned, with the Bank Nifty index also advancing past the 55,500 level. The Gift Nifty, trading at 23,532, pointed to more gains ahead.

Analysts urge caution amid the euphoria, with Ajit Mishra of Religare Broking advising “selectively accumulating quality stocks” and maintaining disciplined risk management. Still, with diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran gaining traction, many market watchers believe the worst may be over for Indian equities after two tough years.
