Google Pixel 10 Leak Confirms Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Charging and Pixelsnap Accessory Lineup Ahead of August 20 Launch

It looks like Google is finally bringing the magnetic wireless charging game to Android in a big way. Fresh leaks, including images from trusted tipster Evan Blass, show the upcoming Google Pixel 10 series sporting what appears to be a magnetic charging puck locked onto its back. This all but confirms that the Pixel 10 will debut with Qi2 wireless charging — complete with integrated magnets, much like Apple’s MagSafe technology.

Qi2, which made its debut in 2023, improved on Apple’s idea by adding a universal magnetic ring standard for better alignment and more efficient charging. While some Android phones like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 have jumped on Qi2, they skipped the crucial magnetic “snap” element. Google, however, seems ready to go all-in. The leaks suggest every model in the Pixel 10 series — from the base version up to the Pro XL — will house this magnetic ring inside the phone’s body, allowing chargers and accessories to snap securely into place.

Pixelsnap: Google’s Answer to MagSafe

What’s more, Google isn’t stopping at just internal hardware changes. According to several reports and leaked renders, Google plans to launch an entire ecosystem of accessories under the new “Pixelsnap” brand. Think custom cases, magnetic chargers (including a puck almost identical to Apple’s €38 MagSafe charger), and even stands or ring holders. The leaked images show a charger that looks similar in size to the Pixel Watch 3 puck — but designed specifically for snapping onto the back of the phone without any case needed.

Qi2 theoretically allows for wireless charging speeds up to 25 watts, so users could see faster top-ups compared to previous generations. The magnets also mean no more fiddling around trying to align your phone just right on a pad — it’ll snap into place, stay put, and charge efficiently.

Set for August 20 Reveal

All signs point toward an official unveiling of both the Pixel 10 series and Pixelsnap accessories at Google’s next hardware event on August 20. The phones are expected to run on Google’s new Tensor G5 chipset and may launch alongside other products like the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a.

For Android users tired of watching iPhone owners click their phones onto MagSafe chargers with envy — it looks like your time is finally coming. Expect a flood of third-party Qi2-compatible accessories as well once these phones hit shelves.
