Foldable phones is becoming a big thing now, Brands like Samsung & Huawei trying to release the foldable smartphone ASAP. Everyone is waiting for the Samsung foldable phones from Galaxy F series. Huawei is also about to release its first Foldable phone, But that title could now go to company founded in 2012 called Royole. They could to be winning the race by launching their foldable device. Royole has unveiled its 7.8-inch foldable FlexPai phone-tablet at an event in Beijing on Wednesday.
FlexPai is Foldable device as it has a flexible area in the middle that allows it to be folded with the rear side facing inwards, which also converts this phone in a dual screen one. After folding, it shows two screens on either side, but it looks a bit bulky at the same time. FlexPai comes with two variants one is with 6GB RAM & 128GB storage, which costs 8,999 yuan in China (approx. $1,295, Rs 94,000), and the second variant is with 8GB RAM & 256GB Storage costs 9,998 yuan (Approx. $1,438, Rs 106,000).
Other than this there is also a developer version of the FlexPai made available globally now, Royole stated they expects to ship the devices in late December. The company also says that the device has passed the durability test by folding it more than 200,000 times and when folded the other secondary screen can be used together if required or even independently. When folded the device has a primary and secondary screen that can be used together.
The folded edge also displays notifications, Royole has put to use for managing calls, messages that no longer need to be on the larger screens. Talking about what powers it, FlaxPai is running on Snapdragon 8-series SoC, it has a 7.8-inch AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1,440 pixels resolution, it has a 20-megapixel on the rear along with a 16MP camera. It also has fast-charging, a microSD slot, fingerprint reader, and a USB-C port. It’s running on Water OS which is based on Android 9.0.
Samsung folding phone concept was showing off since years, Samsung scheduled a develop conference for next week in San Francisco, it is expected that the company will be unveiling its first foldable device. It is also said that the device will be first available to the developers before releasing it officially to its customers.
