Samsung’s Project Moohan XR Headset to Debut September 29, Priced Between $1,800 and $2,800 in Korea

Samsung will unveil its first XR headset—codenamed Project Moohan—at a Galaxy Unpacked event on September 29, 2025, with South Korean sales starting October 13. The device is expected to cost between $1,800 and $2,800, well below Apple’s Vision Pro.

Get ready for a new contender in the mixed reality race: Samsung is gearing up to officially reveal its much-anticipated XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan (which means “infinity” in Korean), at a Galaxy Unpacked event on September 29, 2025. According to multiple leaks and Korean media reports, the device will hit shelves in South Korea on October 13 before rolling out to other countries.

XR—short for extended reality—blends augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) experiences. This marks Samsung’s first big move into the space, and it’s no small leap: the company is targeting sales of roughly 100,000 units by the end of 2025.

Competitive Pricing Under Apple’s Vision Pro

What about the price tag? Project Moohan is expected to range from KRW2,500,000 to KRW4,000,000 in South Korea—that’s approximately $1,800 to $2,800 USD at current rates. While that’s certainly not pocket change, it undercuts Apple’s Vision Pro headset by a significant margin. For reference, the Vision Pro launched at $3,499. Samsung is also opting not to use direct currency conversion for global markets, so international pricing may vary.

Early hands-on previews hint at an Android-based platform and a focus on both AR overlays and fully immersive VR environments. While the official name remains under wraps—Project Moohan is just a codename—expect Samsung to play up its “Galaxy” branding in some fashion.

What Comes Next for XR and Smart Glasses?

Samsung’s push comes amid a flurry of activity in the wearables space: Meta is teasing major announcements for its next smart glasses later this year (though it’s staying mum about any new VR headsets), while companies like Xreal are touting big upgrades for their AR smart glasses.

Meanwhile, Samsung reportedly has its eye on broader ambitions—a separate line of smart glasses is rumored for launch in 2026. For now though, all eyes are on September 29 as Samsung attempts to carve out its slice of the XR pie with a device that aims to be more affordable than Apple’s but still packed with features.
