Vivo has officially confirmed that its much-anticipated X500 Ultra flagship will debut in China between March and April 2027, according to statements from Huang Tao, Vice President of Product at Vivo, during a post-launch conference. While the company remains tight-lipped on global availability, speculation and leaks around the device are already fueling excitement, mainly thanks to the rumored 200MP telephoto camera and dual 35mm main camera options.
X500 Ultra: A Photography Powerhouse on the Horizon
According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the X500 Ultra’s core hardware has now been finalized. The upcoming flagship is expected to feature a larger battery—likely matching the recently announced X500 Pro Max—and Vivo is reportedly testing three different 200MP sensors for its telephoto lens. If these leaks hold true, the X500 Ultra could set a new bar for mobile photography, directly following up on the X300 Ultra, which was unveiled in China on March 30 last year.
Despite the clear China launch window, there’s still no word from Vivo on whether the X500 Ultra will be available globally. This uncertainty echoes the current situation with the standard X500 model, which debuted in China on September 21 alongside the X500 Pro and Pro Max but hasn’t been confirmed for international release.
X500 Pro and Pro Max Set for Europe, Standard Model in Limbo
Europe will get its first taste of the new X500 series on October 27, with pre-orders starting the same day and sales kicking off November 5. However, only the Pro and Pro Max models—both powered by MediaTek’s 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip—are heading to European shores for now. The vanilla X500 was notably absent from the EU’s EPREL listings, hinting it might remain a China exclusive.
Alongside the X500 series, Vivo is also bringing its X Fold 6 foldable (available in Europe from October 1) and introducing a fresh batch of IoT gadgets, including the Buds Clip, Buds Ultra, and Headphone Studio. Early buyers of the X Fold 6 can look forward to an extended warranty and a free Watch GT 2.
For now, all eyes are on the X500 Ultra’s China debut in early 2027—and whether Vivo will eventually bring its camera-centric flagship to the rest of the world.
