The roundtable conference was held between the Indian Prime Minister with the Ceo’s of different companies like Google, NVIDIA, HP INC, Accenture, Biogen etc. It was discussed how the domain of Ai (artificial intelligence), can further enhance the developmental growth in India.
The US Space Force, which is also a part of US military will help to set up the semiconductor fabrication unit in India by collaborating in this Indian Semiconductor Mission.
As a matter of fact, multiple multi-national companies have invested in this project amongst whom the IT Tech, and Bharat Semiconductors, are the two Indian companies. As per reports this setup will be done in Javer district of Greater Noida/ UP, and another one will be set up right next to the new airport.
What is Multi-Chip Fabrication?
Multi-chip fabrication is the process of creating multi-chip modules (MCMs), where multiple integrated circuits (ICs), or chips, are assembled together in a single package and the interconnected chips, allows them to work in tandem.
These chips can be used for: Driving Innovation and Digital Growth, Improving Defence and Strategic Capabilities, Supporting Economic Growth, Accelerating the Automotive and EV Industry, and Research purposes.
How will MCM advancements be helpful, and will they benefit the public?
The considerations were primarily focused on the benefits of the common man, and also various other aspects were given special importance as per necessity.
1. Enhanced performance in Everyday electronic devices,
2. Faster and more reliable internet connection,
3. Energy efficiency and longer battery life along with better Healthcare facilities, etc.
Over here a Designing unit, R&D Centre, and two fabrication units will be established which will make chips for cutting edge defence technology some of them are:
- Night Vision devices,
- Equipment’s of Radar Military Communication, Jammers,
- Electronic Warfare Equipment chips for renewable electric vehicles.
Both India and US could consider exporting these chips from India to other ‘QUAD Nations’ and to countries like Asia Pacific and Africa. This will not only cater to the security needs, but also the financial and employment requirements of India along with US will gain some satisfaction. It has been reported that this project will start from 2025.
Apart from this both the countries US and India, have come to an agreement to set up a ‘Global Foundries Power Centre’ in Kolkata which will look after the technology partnerships, to act on action plan to mitigate supply chain risks.
The Prime Minister also met 15 CEOs in New York three of them were from the semiconductor sect and several other were from healthcare companies as well. He urged all of them to come and invest in India and especially in sectors of healthcare, education, agriculture, for their development.
As India continues to establish itself as a leader in innovation and technology, hence it is believed that the international collaborations can be fruitful to witness the potential of emerging technologies.
