This marks a major milestone, as Xiaomi becomes the first Chinese automaker—and the first pure technology brand—to join the prestigious Vision Gran Turismo Project for the legendary PlayStation racing game. The digital hypercar stuns with a 1,900-horsepower powertrain, radical aerodynamics, and a lounge-like “Sofa Racer” cockpit.
From Game Console to Show Floor
The Vision Gran Turismo is no ordinary digital doodle. Xiaomi’s design team, led by Tianyuan Li, approached the project like a real-world engineering challenge. The car’s body is “sculpted by the wind,” with a teardrop profile, massive carbon fiber rear wing, center-lock wheels, and a jaw-dropping aerodynamic efficiency rating of 4.1. Downforce? An impressive -1.2—so it’s glued to the track in-game, slicing through corners at high speed. And with the debut of the Active Wake Control System, Xiaomi’s concept pushes the limits of virtual aerodynamics.
Underneath, the hypercar rides on Xiaomi’s own 900-volt silicon carbide (SiC) EV platform, a tech showcase that signals how far Chinese EV makers have come in just a few short years. While the Vision Gran Turismo is strictly digital (for now), PlayStation gamers worldwide will soon get to experience its 1,900 electric horses in Gran Turismo 7. For fans without a gaming console, Xiaomi is even launching a cocoon-shaped simulator inspired by the hypercar’s cockpit—so you can “race” from your living room.
Hypercar Style, “Sofa Racer” Comfort
Step inside, and you’ll find a radical rethink of race car interiors. Instead of a stripped-out, hardcore cabin, Xiaomi created the “Sofa Racer” concept: a cocoon-like lounge where the dashboard, doors, and seats flow into a seamless, comfortable loop. The reveal comes as Xiaomi rides a wave of EV momentum. Just last year, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra set a Nürburgring record for the fastest production electric vehicle, boasting 1,548 Ps and a starting price of 529,900 yuan ($77,270) in China.
