After nearly four years without a major update, Maruti Suzuki has rolled out the 2026 Baleno facelift in India, priced from ₹6.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The Baleno, long a favorite among Indian hatchback buyers, now receives a substantial mid-lifecycle refresh with a focus on safety, technology, and comfort—just in time for the festive car-buying season.
New Features, Same Practical Philosophy
While the Baleno’s formula of space, economy, and easy ownership remains unchanged, the facelift brings in a host of segment-first and premium features. The standout addition is Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making the Baleno one of the most tech-savvy hatchbacks in its class. Buyers will also appreciate the 360-degree camera setup, six airbags across all trims, and upgraded ABS with EBD, reflecting Maruti’s renewed focus on safety.
Inside, the dual-tone blue-and-black cabin houses front ventilated seats—a first-in-segment move—along with a QI-certified wireless charger featuring active cooling and a Clarion premium sound system. The dashboard retains its familiar floating infotainment display and physical controls, keeping things intuitive for everyday drivers.
Engine Upgrades and Broader Options
Under the hood, the Baleno swaps its previous four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol for the new three-cylinder 1.2-litre Z-Series engine, which now delivers roughly 90hp and 113Nm of torque. This engine, also found in the Swift and Dzire, is paired with both manual and AMT gearbox options. The CNG variant, launched earlier in 2022, continues with the same engine but is tuned for 77.5hp and 98.5Nm, delivering an impressive 30.61 km/kg efficiency.
From the outside, the facelift is easy to spot thanks to a bolder front end, a larger three-slat chrome grille (which now houses the radar module for ADAS), updated LED fog lamps, and more chrome around the windows for that upmarket touch. The sporty, raked roofline and glass profile remain, giving the Baleno its signature stance.

With its refreshed equipment list, the Baleno faces off against rivals like the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza, and even in-house siblings like the Maruti Fronx.
