Next week on May 28th, Xiaomi to launch its very first ‘Flagship Killer’ smartphone under Redmi series The Redmi K20, though the company already have Poco brand for Flagship killers. In some markets the K20 might come as the successor of the Pocophone F1 but these are just suppositions. Last week it was confirmed that the phone will be called as Redmi K20, K series will remain as a performance flagship killer of Redmi.
Xiaomi’s VP Manu Jain also congratulated OnePlus on the launch of their new OnePlus 7 Pro saying ‘Congratulations OnePlus team! There’s a new flagship in town’. Coming to the flagship killer specifications the Redmi K20 will sport a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, there might be a built-in fingerprint reader secured with Gorilla Glass 6.
The main attention will be the Flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC based on 7nm process paired with the Adreno 640. Couple of days back, AnTuTu score for Redmi K20 was revealed which was a really high score for a phone like this. Great AnTuTu scores suggest that K20 could probably come with the new UFS 2.1 on-board storage and LPDDR4X RAM to compete with OnePlus 7.
Storage options supposed to include 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB storage options. Coming to the camera which is also the highlighting factor for K20, for selfies there will be a 20MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, we are most likely to see pop-up mechanism, again like the OnePlus.
Earlier teasers showed the device comes with a true bezel-less display and sports a pop-up selfie camera. The main camera will be a 48MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture followed by an 13MP sensor with f/2.4 and 8MP sensor with f/2.4, these two sensors can be used as ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, respectively. Coming to the battery which is confirmed today to have 4000mAh capacity, K20 also mentioned to support a 27W quick charge.
The phone will come in three colors: the Carbon Black, the Glacier Blue, and the Flame Red colors. The Redmi K20 could be the cheapest smartphone to launch with Snapdragon 855 in India. However the Redmi K20 is not only the phone company decided to launch under the new K-series, they’ll be launching two smartphones – The Redmi K20 and The Redmi K20 Pro respectively.
