The Indian smartphone market just got a lot more exciting. On August 13, both Vivo and OPPO officially rolled out their mid-premium 5G contenders—the Vivo V60 and the OPPO Reno 14 5G—aimed straight at tech enthusiasts who want flagship features without breaking the bank. Here’s what you need to know about these two heavyweights.

Display & Design: Brightness Wars and Sleek Curves

Vivo’s V60 makes a statement with its massive 6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED display. It doesn’t just look good—its ultra-bright 5,000 nits peak brightness (yes, you read that right) is among the highest in the segment. With a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and low blue light tech for eye comfort, this phone is built for binge-watchers. The device is IP68/IP69 rated for dust and water resistance and weighs between 192g and 201g depending on the color (Mist Gray, Moonlit Blue, or Auspicious Gold).

On the other side, the OPPO Reno 14 5G offers a slightly smaller but still sharp 6.59-inch OLED panel with a matching 1.5K resolution and the same fast refresh rate. Its display peaks at a more modest—but still impressive—1,200 nits.

Performance & Cameras: Snapdragon vs MediaTek Showdown

Under the hood, the Vivo V60 packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, paired with up to a whopping 16GB LPDDR4x RAM and as much as 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Meanwhile, OPPO’s Reno 14 runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 processor with up to 12GB RAM and identical storage options.

Camera lovers will appreciate both phones’ triple rear setups. The V60 flaunts a Zeiss co-developed array: a primary 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, a 50MP telephoto (Sony IMX882), and an 8MP ultrawide lens—all supporting crisp 4K video recording front and back thanks to its beefy 50MP selfie camera. Over on the Reno 14, you get a similar trio: a main 50MP sensor, an eye-catching periscope telephoto delivering up to 3.5x optical zoom (also at 50MP), plus an 8MP ultrawide.

Battery-wise, the Vivo V60 is equipped with a hefty 6,500mAh cell while OPPO’s Reno edges close with a robust 6,000mAh battery backed by rapid-fire 80W SuperVOOC charging.

As for software? The V60 runs Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 and promises four years of Android updates plus six years of security patches—a commitment that should please longevity-minded buyers.
